Week three of the lockdown brings us round two of my most-DJ’d music countdown. Enjoy the second batch of tracks.
Being a complete geek, I now have the full list on a spreadsheet, which auto-generates the HTML tables used to show it in the blog. All I need to do now is find preview links, make the Spotify playlist, write some descriptions, then copy-paste into the blog. What could be simpler?
As we have at least ten weeks of lockdown to enjoy, it occurred to me to do a series of posts of my most-DJ’d music – so I’m starting a weekly series of posts, where each week I’ll post another ten tracks from my most-played list. Here’s the first ten swing tracks to get things started.
This year marked my third year DJing at the wonderful Chase Festival, and my second as DJ coordinator. As ever, I had an absolutely blast.
This set list was requested by a few people – and please accept my apologies for posting a little later than I’d intended.
This year, there were two fantastic Chase after-parties, on the Friday and Saturday nights, and to cut a long story short, on one of the late night venues, while a Lindy room was rocking it upstairs, downstairs some blues happened. I’d had a small equipment crisis, and mislaid some of my sound gear – luckily it was found the following day – so I was DJing “blind” – and couldn’t preview anything. This set, in consequence, consisted of a whole bunch of my blues favourites – so there will be some overlap with earlier setlists, but I hope you all find it useful nonetheless. Enjoy!

We’re recently back from a wonderful week at Swing Summit (after five visits, still my favourite dance camp) – and as usual, I did a fair amount of DJing. I promised I’d put a set list up from one of those sessions, and this is it.
This was from the Saturday night, starting around midnight, and I’d say people weren’t in a high-energy mood. Up for dancing, but it wasn’t generally a crazy week, and this night was no exception – so I was playing it a little cautiously, but overall, things went well.
Swing Summit this year was, for me, the best Swing Summit yet. Given that Swing Summit is never anything less than inspirational, that’s a pretty big thing. If you’re focussed on learning and improving your dance, this is the one to go to – if could spend all summer there, I probably would.
